The Bakewell Town Guide is a biennial magazine designed for the local community and visitors to the beautiful market town of Bakewell. It features Bakewell attractions, news, events and information about accommodation. Earlier this year I set off to take a photo for the 2023 cover.
If you’ve never been fortunate enough to visit, Bakewell is a market town and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England. It is known for many things including its Bakewell Pudding – a traditional English pastry – and its traditional weekly market, which is held every Monday.
However, something that not many people know if that Bakewell is also home to some very territorial crows. They don’t normally bother us, but a few metres into the air and it’s a different story! I firstly wanted to take a few photos from up-stream from the bridge. I must’ve been too close to a crow’s next as the suddenly I was being dive-bombed. I decided instead to try some shots from the other side of the bridge – same thing again. It was that point I gave up and went up to the church instead which is where I got the photo that was used on the cover of the magazine.
